H&M is hot water after a UK ad campaign was released featuring a black child wearing a sweatshirt that says, “Coolest Monkey in the Jungle.”
H&M’s response seems interesting, especially the part that says they are sorry that the image was taken.
Does that mean that the “coolest monkey” part was not superimposed after a generic photoshoot?
If that is indeed the case, that brings us to another point that’s being made all over the internet–where were the parents in all this?
Many people are also asking what all the hoopla is about and why the sweatshirt is so offensive.

Historically, BLACK people have been called monkeys as demeaning and belittling references…so if they were to switch the hoodies…yes it would make a difference

The Weeknd, the popular singer who has collaborated with the clothing store numerous times, announced today via Twitter that he has severed ties with the company.
